KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — Upper Merion Township Police are seeking the public’s help as investigators work to identify whoever is responsible for a series of intentionally set fires at Swedeland Park.
According to police, three separate fire incidents have been reported at the park over the past month.
Investigators reported that the first fire occurred on May 12, followed by a second incident on May 24. In both cases, toilet paper and other materials were allegedly set on fire, causing damage to portable restrooms within the park.
Police and firefighters were called back to the park at approximately 2:30 p.m. on June 18 after a fire was reported inside a locked restroom.
According to investigators, someone had broken into the men’s restroom and allegedly started another fire. The Upper Merion Fire Marshal’s Office and Upper Merion detectives have determined that all three fires were intentionally set.
Authorities noted that each of the incidents occurred during afternoon or early evening hours.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in or around Swedeland Park on May 12, May 24, or June 18 to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Upper Merion Township Police Detective Division at 610-265-3232 or Detective Andrew Rathfon at arathfon@umtownship.org.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
