Masked Suspect Sought After Frightening Center City Assault

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Philadelphia Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a masked suspect accused of chasing and threatening a 40-year-old woman in Center City, causing her to fall and suffer an injury.

According to the Philadelphia Police Central Detective Division, the incident occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m. Aug. 12 in the area of the 1500 block of John F. Kennedy Boulevard.

Police allege the masked individual chased the woman and made threatening comments while holding a hand behind his back. As the suspect approached, the woman stumbled and was injured, according to investigators.

The suspect allegedly fled into SEPTA’s Suburban Station following the incident.

Police described the individual as a Black male believed to be 16 to 20 years old, approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall, with a medium complexion and thin build. Investigators reported that he was wearing a white baby-doll-style Halloween mask with black hair and carrying a black-and-blue plaid backpack.

Police have released video and still images of the individual in an effort to identify him.

Authorities are warning anyone who sees the suspect not to approach him and to call 911 immediately.

The case is listed under district control number DC 26-09-105311.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
