PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania SPCA will waive adoption fees for select dogs this week as part of a partnership with pet food company Freshpet aimed at helping long-term shelter residents find permanent homes.

The four-day adoption event, running June 11 through June 14, applies to dogs that have been available for adoption for at least 30 days at the PSPCA’s Philadelphia headquarters and Main Line Animal Rescue campus in Chester Springs.

The initiative is part of Freshpet’s Fresh Starts adoption program, which supports efforts to place shelter dogs into adoptive homes. The event also coincides with the PSPCA’s upcoming 159th anniversary.

The fee-waived promotion is intended to increase adoption opportunities for dogs that have spent extended periods in shelter care without being adopted.

Although adoption fees will be waived for eligible dogs, the organization said standard adoption screening procedures will remain in place. Additional charges, including licensing fees required for Philadelphia residents, may still apply.

Prospective adopters are encouraged to review adoption requirements before visiting. Information is available at www.pspca.org/adoption-process.

The adoption event will take place at two PSPCA locations.

The Pennsylvania SPCA’s Philadelphia headquarters, located at 350 E. Erie Ave., Philadelphia, will offer adoptions from noon to 6:30 p.m. each day.

The organization’s Main Line Animal Rescue campus, located at 1149 Pike Springs Road in Chester Springs, will be open for adoptions from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The Pennsylvania SPCA, founded in 1867, is one of the nation’s oldest animal welfare organizations and operates adoption, rescue, veterinary and law enforcement programs across the region.
