Suspect Nabbed: Wilmington Man Arrested for October Assault Investigation

WILMINGTON, DE — The Wilmington Police Department has apprehended a suspect in connection with an assault that occurred in late October. The arrest of 59-year-old Michael Boyer follows a thorough investigation by Detective Brendan Wham of the Criminal Investigations Division.

The incident took place on October 25, 2023, at approximately 8:21 p.m. Officers from the Uniformed Services Division responded to a report of an assault in the 1900 block of Shallcross Avenue. Upon their arrival, they found a 53-year-old male victim who required transport to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Detective Wham’s investigation led to the identification of Boyer as the suspect, resulting in the issuance of warrants for his arrest. On November 13, Boyer was taken into custody without incident.

Boyer faces charges of Second Degree Assault and Strangulation. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and subsequently committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution with a bail set at $10,000 cash-only.

It is critical to remember that all allegations remain under investigation, and Boyer is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
