WILMINGTON, DE — A Wilmington woman has been charged in connection with the alleged theft of nearly $10,000 from a business following an investigation by city police.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, officers with the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 1900 block of North Market Street at approximately 1:14 p.m. on June 3 after receiving a theft complaint.
Police said the reporting party told officers that a former employee had allegedly stolen $9,951.26 from the business.
Through the course of the investigation, officers identified 35-year-old Laytanza Hinton as a suspect, according to authorities.
Police reported that officers later responded to the 700 block of East 10th Street, where Hinton was located and taken into custody without incident.
Hinton was charged with theft of $1,500 or greater.
According to court records, Hinton was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and released on $2,000 unsecured bail.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
