PHILADELPHIA, PA — Drivers in Northeast Philadelphia should expect periodic lane closures and flagging on four surface streets from Monday, July 13, through Friday, July 17, as crews perform overhead construction on Interstate 95. Motorists should plan extra time and prepare for possible backups near the affected overpasses.

Periodic lane closures with flagging may be in place at the following locations:
- Venango Street between Bath Street and East Allen Street
- Castor Avenue between Richmond Street and the I-95 northbound on-ramp
- Richmond Street between Wheatsheaf Lane and East Butler Street
- Wheatsheaf Lane between Richmond Street and East Thompson Street
No detour has been announced. Drivers should follow flaggers through the work zones, expect intermittent stops and seek alternate routes when possible.
The work is part of PennDOT’s $311 million I-95/AF3 project, which will reconstruct and widen 1.3 miles of I-95 in both directions between Tioga Street and Wheatsheaf Lane.
All scheduled work is weather dependent and may be postponed or rescheduled.
