Columbus Boulevard Closure Friday Night Will Force Detours

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Northbound Columbus Boulevard will close overnight Friday, August 28, between Dock Street and Summer Street in Center City Philadelphia, forcing drivers onto a detour while crews complete overhead bridge construction.

During the closure, drivers will turn left onto Spruce Street, right onto 5th Street, and right onto Race Street to return to northbound Columbus Boulevard.

Access to all properties along Columbus Boulevard will remain available.

PennDOT advises motorists to plan extra time when traveling near the construction zone or along the detour route because backups and delays may occur.

The work is part of the $329 million I-95 CAP project, which will replace and expand the covered area above the interstate between Chestnut and Walnut streets.
