COATESVILLE, PA — The Chester County Intermediate Unit brought together more than 1,700 employees at Coatesville Area High School on August 17, marking 55 years of providing educational programs and services to school districts, students, and families across Chester County.
The 2026 Opening Day Celebration was held across two sessions and included remarks from Executive Director George F. Fiore, testimonials from students and parents, and a keynote address by artist and former educator Akwi Nji.
The event highlighted the organization’s role in supporting local school districts and educators through shared educational services.
“Hearing directly from the students and families we serve reminded all of us why this work matters,” Fiore stated. “Our commitment to this community hasn’t wavered in 55 years.”
Nji, whose work focuses on connection and resilience, met with staff members and reflected on the experiences shared by participating students and families.
“I’m humbled by the work this team does, and I felt an immediate sense of community here,” Nji stated.
