Christopher McDevitt Awarded 2024 Anthony A. Martino Memorial Scholarship

KING OF PRUSSIA, PAGoddard Systems, LLC has announced Christopher McDevitt as the winner of the 2024 Anthony A. Martino Memorial Scholarship. This prestigious $10,000 award is given to a graduating high school senior who has completed a Goddard School pre-k or kindergarten program. The scholarship celebrates dedication, resilience, and community spirit, traits embodied by the program’s founder, Anthony A. Martino.

McDevitt, from Matthews, NC, attended The Goddard School of Matthews and is now set to start his freshman year at North Carolina State University. His community involvement includes volunteering at a food pantry and local library. Additionally, he has shared his passion for swimming as an assistant coach and instructor for young children.

Dennis R. Maple, CEO of Goddard Systems, praised McDevitt’s commitment, stating, “Christopher’s devotion to academics and community service distinguished him among applicants. We are excited to recognize him as the scholarship recipient.”

McDevitt attributes his success to early education at The Goddard School. “The foundation set for me at The Goddard School encouraged me to genuinely enjoy learning,” he said. He noted the importance of curiosity and kindness instilled during his preschool years.

David Darmstaedtr, owner of The Goddard School of Matthews, emphasized the role of nurturing environments in developing skills and character. “When children are nurtured in a safe environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and confidence, they thrive academically and socially,” he remarked.

McDevitt, a 2024 graduate of David W. Butler High School, plans to pursue a career in mining engineering. His high school achievements include serving as Vice President of the National Honor Society and founding member of the Quill & Scroll Honor Society.
