WYOMISSING, PA — Police responded to at least 37 incidents across Wyomissing on Wednesday, including retail theft investigations, multiple traffic crashes, fraud complaints, and a series of traffic violations, according to department records.
According to police, the day began shortly after 3:00 a.m. with a security check on Berkshire Boulevard, where officers found an unsecured rear door at a business and secured it after conducting an interior check.
Police reported assisting West Reading officers at approximately 3:14 a.m. on Spruce Street, where two individuals were allegedly entering parked vehicles. Authorities stated one suspect was detained while the second fled on foot.
At 7:50 a.m., officers responded to a non-reportable crash near Route 422 and North Wyomissing Boulevard in West Reading. According to investigators, no injuries were reported and no vehicles were towed.
Police also reported that a special event permit was approved at 8:45 a.m. for a carnival scheduled from April 23 through May 2 on Park Road North.
Late morning activity included multiple crash responses. At approximately 11:05 a.m., officers handled a non-reportable accident on Penn Avenue with no injuries. Around the same time, police responded to a hit-and-run incident in a parking lot on Park Road North that remains under investigation.
At 11:42 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at Museum Road and Old Mill Road, where a driver was cited for expired registration and inspection, according to police.
Police reported a four-vehicle crash at 11:55 a.m. on State Hill Road near Woodland Road. According to investigators, no injuries were reported and one vehicle was towed from the scene.
At 12:21 p.m., officers responded to a fraud complaint on Spring Street, where a resident reported concerns about a tax preparation service and requested documentation in case of identity misuse. Police stated the report was taken for informational purposes.
Authorities also handled civil-related calls, including a phone complaint on Penn Avenue at 2:00 p.m. and a walk-in custody-related complaint involving children on Reading Boulevard at 5:18 p.m.
Police reported retail theft investigations during the afternoon and evening hours. At 4:34 p.m. on Crossing Drive, officers responded to a report that an employee had allegedly stolen from a business. Later, at 6:21 p.m. on Penn Avenue, officers responded to a report of two individuals allegedly placing items into backpacks inside a store. Both cases remain under investigation, according to police.
Multiple additional crashes were reported throughout the evening, including a non-reportable accident at 4:47 p.m. at Parkside Drive South and Wyomissing Boulevard, and a two-vehicle crash at 5:47 p.m. at Penn Avenue and Forest Avenue where one vehicle was towed. Police also documented a separate hit-and-run incident on Route 222 reported at 5:34 p.m.
Police responded to several 911 hang-up calls during the evening, including incidents on Berkshire Boulevard, Penn Avenue, Old Wyomissing Road, and Museum Road. According to authorities, all were determined to be accidental or unfounded.
At 7:12 p.m., officers responded to a trespassing complaint on Berkshire Boulevard involving a reported harassment incident. Police stated the individual involved was removed from the property.
Police also addressed a disorderly conduct complaint at 7:41 p.m. on Park Road North involving a vehicle meet-up. According to investigators, those involved were asked to leave and complied without incident.
An automatic fire alarm was reported at 8:25 p.m. on Bern Road and was handled by the fire department, according to police.
Additional calls included an animal complaint at 6:24 p.m. near Old Mill Road and Museum Road involving a loose dog that was not located, and a disabled vehicle at 11:22 p.m. on North Wyomissing Boulevard, where officers provided traffic control until the vehicle was towed.
Police conducted numerous traffic stops throughout the evening across Wyomissing, including locations on Park Road North, Wyomissing Boulevard, Reading Boulevard, Penn Avenue, Route 422, and State Hill Road. According to police, violations included expired registration, inspection issues, window tint, lighting violations, stop sign violations, and operating without a valid license, resulting in multiple citations and warnings.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
