KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — Vertex Inc. (Nasdaq: VERX) has introduced new artificial intelligence capabilities within its Vertex Cloud platform to support tax and compliance functions as regulatory complexity increases.
The company said the updates are designed to help organizations identify risks earlier, improve consistency in compliance processes, and manage data across systems more effectively.
Vertex said compliance teams face growing pressure to respond in near real time while maintaining accuracy and audit readiness, particularly when processes span multiple systems and include manual steps.
Chief Executive Officer Christopher Young said the company is integrating AI into operational workflows to support execution of compliance tasks.
“We are moving beyond AI that simply assists people toward systems that can safely and transparently execute critical tax and compliance work,” Young said.
The company said the new capabilities allow teams to perform compliance tasks using natural language inputs, detect anomalies across transactions and configurations, and apply consistent processes across functions such as tax determination, returns, and reconciliation.
Vertex said the tools are designed to maintain transparency and human oversight, with outputs that can be reviewed and validated within existing governance frameworks.
Kevin Permenter, research director at IDC, said organizations are seeking ways to use AI to improve efficiency without increasing risk.
“In complex business environments, platforms like Vertex Cloud help teams apply AI in ways that improve efficiency and decision-making while maintaining the governance, auditability and controls required at scale,” Permenter said.
IDC has projected that companies that do not prioritize AI-ready data may face productivity challenges as adoption of AI-driven systems increases.
Vertex provides enterprise tax and compliance software used by organizations operating in global markets.
