Which Chester County Restaurants Failed Their Latest Inspections?

Food Safety Inspections

WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester County health inspectors cited three food establishments for food safety and sanitation violations during inspections conducted June 29, including temperature-control issues that resulted in discarded food and the discovery of expired products.

At Papa John’s Pizza in Thorndale, inspectors found a pizza preparation cooler holding temperature-controlled foods between 46 and 48 degrees, above the required maximum of 41 degrees. The establishment voluntarily discarded all affected food items, according to the inspection report.

Inspectors also cited the restaurant for a food utensil stored improperly in steak, a lack of soap at a handwashing sink, cracked floor tiles and an open back door that could allow pests to enter. The cooler was ordered repaired by June 30.

At Arbor Terrace Willistown – Food in West Chester, inspectors found three cups of cottage cheese in a refrigerator bearing an expiration date of April 30, 2026. The report directed staff to discard the product because it could be unwholesome.

Additional violations included knives stored in an unsanitary manner, unclean equipment and floors, drain flies in the kitchen and server station, and the absence of a Chester County-certified food manager, which county regulations require.

At Mexican Grocery Tres Hermanos in Spring City, inspectors cited the business for improperly labeled packaged foods, including spices, dry goods, baked goods and candies.

The facility was also directed to provide documentation showing the source of certain packaged products and to remove cardboard lining refrigerator shelves because the material can absorb moisture and develop mold.
