Two Arrested After Wilmington Stop Leads to Gun Seizure

WILMINGTON, DE — An 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy are facing weapons charges after police said officers recovered two loaded firearms during an encounter in Wilmington.

According to Wilmington Police, members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division were in the 1200 block of Northeast Boulevard at about 11:28 a.m. on June 24 when they observed two males acting suspiciously.

Police said officers made contact with 18-year-old Jayden Selby and a 16-year-old male juvenile. Both were taken into custody after allegedly resisting arrest.

According to investigators, officers recovered a loaded 9mm handgun and a loaded .22-caliber revolver.

Selby was charged with disorderly conduct, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, resisting arrest and third-degree attempted escape.

Court records show Selby was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $23,600 cash-only bail.

The 16-year-old male juvenile was charged with disorderly conduct, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon and resisting arrest.

The juvenile was arraigned in New Castle County Family Court and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on $31,100 secured bail.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
