WEST CHESTER, PA — Multiple Chester County food establishments were cited for food safety violations during May 20 inspections, including improper cold food storage, sanitation deficiencies, labeling violations, and unsafe food handling practices, according to the Chester County Health Department.
The most extensive violations were reported at JUST MOM’S LLC in Honey Brook, where inspectors ordered the immediate halt of shell egg sales after finding eggs improperly labeled and stored at room temperature.
Inspectors also cited the business for lacking documentation showing that certain canned and jarred foods were prepared in an approved kitchen. Chicken cheesesteak meat was found stored at 51 degrees in a refrigerator that inspectors said was unable to maintain the required 41-degree maximum for temperature-controlled foods.
Additional violations at the Honey Brook facility included missing date labels on prepared foods, dirty kitchen equipment and refrigeration units, missing refrigerator thermometers, unsanitary restroom conditions, and dirty kitchen floors, ceilings, and walls.
At La Baguette Magique in West Chester, inspectors observed employees handling money and preparing food without washing their hands between tasks.
The café was also cited for expired milk products, improper food storage near a mop sink, missing handwashing signage, and maintenance issues around hand sinks and ventilation areas.
Los Osorio in Pottstown received numerous violations tied to food temperature control and sanitation.
Inspectors reported raw chicken, shrimp, tamales, soup, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, aguas frescas, and horchata stored above safe temperature limits. Other violations included improper cooling methods, raw eggs stored above ready-to-eat foods, unlabeled squeeze bottles, food stored directly on the floor, and inadequate sanitizer concentrations.
A follow-up inspection at Sunny Ridge Restaurant Inc found tuna salad, chicken salad, sliced cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and mayonnaise held between 46 and 52 degrees in a prep-top refrigeration unit. Inspectors ordered the food discarded.
At Victory Brewing Company in Kennett Square, inspectors cited the facility for dirty walls and shelving near the dishwasher area and for a malfunctioning dishwasher hood system.
The health department noted that inspection reports represent conditions observed at the time of inspection and may not reflect long-term operating conditions at a facility.
