PennDOT Announces Bridge Demolitions: Motorists Should Prepare for Traffic Delays

Flagging

WEST PIKELAND TWP, PA — Motorists in Chester and Montgomery Counties, take note. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced scheduled bridge demolitions on Route 401 (Conestoga Road) in West Pikeland Township, Chester County, and N. Gulph Road in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County. These demolitions will result in some travel restrictions and potential traffic delays.

In Chester County, a lane closure with flagging is scheduled weekdays and Saturday on Route 401 (Conestoga Road), between Newcomen Road and 7 Oaks Road in West Pikeland Township. This closure will be in effect from Tuesday, April 2, through Friday, April 12.

Meanwhile, in Montgomery County, motorists should anticipate a single lane closure with periodic traffic paces on southbound N. Gulph Road, between 1st Avenue and U.S. 202 in Upper Merion Township. This restriction will occur from Monday, March 18, through Saturday, March 23, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day.

Motorists should exercise caution and be prepared for slow or stopped traffic approaching these work areas. Patience is advised as these necessary demolitions are carried out to ensure the safety and efficiency of our roadways.

Keep in mind that all scheduled activities are weather-dependent. Any changes in weather conditions could lead to adjustments in the demolition schedule.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike will complete these projects under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.
