Arrest Warrant Issued for Philadelphia Woman in Check Fraud Case

KENNETT SQUARE, PA — An arrest warrant has been issued for 20-year-old Ciara Wideman of Philadelphia, following an investigation into fraudulent checks passed against a local business, according to the Kennett Square Police Department.

The inquiry began on October 24, 2023, when police were alerted to suspicious activity involving a check for $8,304.00, intended to cover electrical services provided on October 9. The business, located in the 300 block of E. South Street in Kennett Square Borough, was contacted by Citizens Bank on October 23, raising concerns over the transaction’s legitimacy.

Investigative efforts revealed the check in question had been made out to Wideman, with subsequent search warrants uncovering deposit images and a signature card linked to her account number. These findings led to charges of theft by unlawful taking or disposition among other related offenses, filed against Wideman at District Court 15-3-04.

With the case pending a preliminary hearing, authorities are actively seeking information on Wideman’s whereabouts. She is described as a Black female, standing 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing approximately 200 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
