Final Touches on Route 82 Roundabout to Cause Lane Closures in West Brandywine Township

Travel Restrictions

WEST BRANDYWINE TWP, PA — Motorists navigating through West Brandywine Township, Chester County, are advised to brace for potential delays as Pennsylvania’s Department of Transportation (PennDOT) undertakes the concluding phase of improvements on the roundabout at the intersection of Route 82 (Manor Road) and Cedar Knoll Road/Reeceville Road.

From Monday, April 29, through Friday, May 10, drivers will encounter weekday periodic lane closures on Route 82 between Red Oak Drive and Porter Lane from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. These disruptions come as PennDOT and its contractors put the finishing touches on a project designed to streamline traffic flow and enhance safety for all road users.

Significant strides were made in September 2023 when major construction was completed, including the construction of a single-lane roundabout intended to facilitate smoother transitions through this busy intersection. The comprehensive project also featured a full-depth reconstruction of the existing junction, new lighting installations, a revamped storm sewer drainage system for better runoff management, and groundwork for future pedestrian pathways and crossings.

With the bulk of construction now behind them, crews will focus on installing permanent lighting and adding plantings to the site. This additional work is part of PennDOT’s ongoing efforts to not only improve travel efficiency but also to ensure that the infrastructure supports the safety of the community.

The $1.5 million project, carried out by Marino Corporation of Skippack, Montgomery County, was fully funded by federal resources.
