CHESTER COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that nighttime lane closures will take place next week along U.S. 30 (Exton Bypass) in Chester County as crews continue long-term sinkhole remediation work in West Whiteland and East Caln townships.
From Monday, November 3, through Friday, November 14, lane closures will be in effect from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM in both directions between Route 100 (Pottstown Pike) and Business U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue). Motorists should anticipate traffic delays and allow extra time when traveling through the area. All work is weather dependent.
The $6.8 million project includes permanent sinkhole repairs at two locations on the Exton Bypass between Business U.S. 30 and Clover Mill Road. Crews will use a specialized grouting technique involving drilled grid-pattern holes through the pavement, injecting pressurized grout to fill underground voids and stabilize the roadway base.
Additional improvements include pavement reconstruction, drainage pipe replacement, and stabilization of roadside swales to strengthen the corridor and reduce the likelihood of future sinkhole issues.
Road-Con of West Chester, Pennsylvania, is the general contractor on the federally funded project.
