HONEY BROOK, PA — Sow Good Now will pair golfers from the Eric MacCluen Golf Academy with youth from The Parkesburg Point on Saturday, Aug. 29, in Honey Brook, using golf instruction as a vehicle for mentorship and community service.
The Golf GiveBack will run from 9 a.m. to noon at The Golf Zone Family and Fun Center, 1839 Horseshoe Pike. It will mark the first GiveBack at the facility pairing the golf academy with The Parkesburg Point, though Sow Good Now has previously held events there with West Chester University golfers.
Golf academy athletes will teach participants basic skills, including how to hold a club and different aspects of the game, while serving as mentors to the younger participants. Organizers are using the event to expose Parkesburg-area youth to golf while teaching older athletes to apply their skills through service.
The Parkesburg Point, founded in 2003, operates a community center in Parkesburg with programs intended to provide activities and new opportunities for young people. Its work with Sow Good Now includes introducing participating youth to golf.
Sow Good Now is a 501(c)(3) public charity that pairs high school and college athletes with youth from underserved communities. Its model centers on having student-athletes contribute their time, skills and relationships through sports-based service.
