CHESTER & MONTGOMERY COUNTIES, PA — Commuters traveling on U.S. 422 through Chester and Montgomery counties should prepare for recurring lane closures and potential backups next week as PennDOT crews conduct Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) installations and paving operations along the busy corridor.

According to PennDOT, westbound U.S. 422 will be reduced by a lane between Keim Street and Hanover Street from Monday, June 15, through Thursday, June 18, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for Intelligent Transportation Systems installations.
During the same period, eastbound U.S. 422 will have a lane closure between Hanover Street and Keim Street from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for additional ITS work.
Motorists should also expect lane restrictions on westbound U.S. 422 between the Sanatoga (Evergreen Road) and Hanover Street interchanges on Wednesday, June 17, and Thursday, June 18, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. as paving operations take place.
No detours have been announced, but drivers should expect delays as traffic merges through active work zones. Plan extra time for travel, particularly during morning and afternoon commuting hours, and seek alternate routes if possible.
All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The work is part of PennDOT’s $83.6 million project to reconstruct approximately 2.1 miles of U.S. 422 and replace multiple bridges between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road in Lower Pottsgrove Township.
Motorists traveling through the corridor next week should remain alert for changing traffic patterns and reduced lane capacity throughout the project area.
