Five Busy Roads Face Closures and Delays Across Two Counties

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Drivers in Montgomery and Philadelphia counties should prepare for daytime and overnight lane closures beginning Monday, August 24, as PennDOT schedules paving, milling, and utility work on five state highway corridors.

In Cheltenham Township, Church Road will have a lane closure with flagging between Township Line Road and Route 73 (Washington Lane) from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM, Monday, August 24, through Friday, August 28.

Ashbourne Road/Montgomery Avenue/Central Avenue will also have a lane closure with flagging between Washington Lane and Route 73 (Cottman Avenue) on those dates. Restrictions are scheduled from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and again from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM.

In Philadelphia, Berkley Street/Roberts Avenue will have an overnight lane closure between Germantown Avenue and Henry Avenue from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, Monday, August 24, through Friday, August 28.

Girard Avenue will face overnight lane closures between Lancaster Avenue and Lansdowne Drive during the same period, also from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Additional daytime restrictions for utility adjustments are scheduled from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Tuesday, August 25, through Friday, August 28.

Ridge Avenue will have overnight lane closures between Hunting Park Avenue and Spring Garden Street from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, beginning Friday, August 28, and continuing through September 4.

PennDOT advises drivers to plan extra time because backups and delays are expected. All scheduled work depends on weather conditions.

The projects are part of ongoing contracts to repair, resurface, and improve more than 240 miles of state highways across the five-county Philadelphia region.
