At a Glance
- Roads Affected: Eastbound Business U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue) between U.S. 322 and Route 113
- Dates: Tuesday, August 25, through Friday, August 28
- Times: 9:00 PM – 6:00 AM the following morning
- Reason: Milling and paving associated with U.S. 30 sinkhole remediation
A lane closure will be in place each night during the nine-hour work window. Drivers should expect backups and delays and plan extra time when traveling through the area.
The work is part of PennDOT’s $6.8 million project to provide long-term sinkhole remediation along U.S. 30 in West Whiteland and East Caln townships.
Crews are making permanent repairs at two sinkhole locations on the U.S. 30 (Exton Bypass) between Business U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue) and Clover Mill Road.
The remediation includes drilling holes through the pavement in a grid pattern and injecting pressurized grout underground to fill subsurface voids. The work is intended to stabilize the ground beneath the highway and reduce the risk of future sinkholes.
The broader project also includes pavement reconstruction, drainage pipe replacement and stabilization of roadside swales.
Road-Con of West Chester is the general contractor for the federally funded project.
The schedule is weather dependent and could be postponed or rescheduled.
