PHILADELPHIA, PA — Drivers should expect overnight delays and detours Thursday, August 27, and Friday, August 28, as bridge deck construction closes northbound Columbus Boulevard and restricts a northbound lane of Interstate 95 in Center City.

On both nights, PennDOT will close the right northbound lane of I-95 between the Washington Avenue/Columbus Boulevard interchange at Exit 20 and the I-676 Central Philadelphia/Callowhill Street interchange at Exit 22.
Northbound Columbus Boulevard will close between Dock Street and Summer Street beginning at 9:00 PM. Drivers will be directed left onto Spruce Street, right onto 5th Street, and right onto Race Street to return to northbound Columbus Boulevard.
Access to properties along Columbus Boulevard will remain available during the closure.
The construction is part of a $329 million project to replace and expand the covered area over I-95 between Chestnut and Walnut streets.
Plan extra time near the construction area and along the detour route, where backups and delays may occur.
