WILMINGTON, DE — Delaware State Police have identified the victim in a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run that occurred late Friday night in Wilmington. Authorities confirmed the victim as 36-year-old Antonio Adolfo Vasquez of Trenton, New Jersey.
The tragic incident took place on April 4, 2025, at approximately 11:36 p.m. According to police, Vasquez was walking southbound in the roadway along Augustine Cut-Off, near Alapocas Drive, when he was struck by an unidentified vehicle also traveling southbound. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene following the collision.
Emergency responders pronounced Vasquez dead at the scene. Authorities withheld his name initially to allow proper notification of his family.
The roadway was closed for about three hours while investigators from the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit examined the scene and worked to gather evidence.
The investigation is ongoing, and police continue to search for the vehicle and driver involved in the hit-and-run. Troopers are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or possesses information about the incident to come forward.
