MALVERN, PA — Great Valley High School volleyball players will shift from competition to community service Oct. 3, partnering with Sow Good Now to provide volleyball instruction, equipment and mentorship to participants from St. Agnes Day Room during a three-hour GiveBack event in Malvern.
The Great Valley Volleyball GiveBack will run from 9 a.m. to noon at Great Valley High School, 225 Phoenixville Pike.
Rather than serving solely as event volunteers, Great Valley student-athletes will lead volleyball activities, teach skills and work directly with participants. The program is structured to use the athletes’ experience in the sport as a vehicle for mentorship and community service.
Participants will receive volleyballs, shirts and shorts, allowing them to continue playing after the event.
The program is part of Sow Good Now’s broader effort to involve young athletes in sports-based philanthropy. The nonprofit works with student-athletes to use their athletic skills and community connections in service projects.
For Great Valley players, the event also provides an opportunity to develop leadership skills outside competition while building relationships with St. Agnes Day Room participants.
