OXFORD, PA — Pennsylvania State Police are investigating allegations of an inappropriate relationship involving an Oxford Area School District employee and a 17-year-old female student, an inquiry that also reaches into a second Chester County school district because the unidentified employee reportedly serves as an assistant football coach at Kennett High School.
State police from the Avondale station responded to Oxford Area High School at about 9 a.m. Sept. 22 for a report of corruption of minors involving a male employee and the 17-year-old student, according to reporting by PhillyVoice. State police were investigating whether criminal charges were warranted, and no charges had been filed as of Sept. 25.
The Oxford Area School District confirmed that state police are investigating allegations of an inappropriate relationship involving a staff member and a student at Oxford Area High School. Superintendent David Woods said the district acted in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and reporting requirements after learning of the matter and is cooperating with law enforcement.
Because the state police investigation remains active, Oxford officials said the district would not discuss the specific allegations, identify those involved, or provide additional details, citing student privacy and legal requirements.
The investigation also involves an individual reportedly serving in a student-facing role in the Kennett Consolidated School District.
PhillyVoice reported that Kennett Superintendent Kimberly Rizzo Saunders confirmed the unidentified individual is an assistant football coach at Kennett High School. The publication also reported that the individual holds no other position with the Kennett district and had provided the clearances required to coach student-athletes. Kennett officials said the district is cooperating with law enforcement and other agencies involved.

Oxford officials encouraged anyone with information relevant to the investigation to contact Pennsylvania State Police. The district said additional updates would be provided when appropriate and consistent with the law and the investigation.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
