WILMINGTON, DE — A Newark man is facing multiple felony drug charges following a months-long investigation into alleged narcotics trafficking in Delaware and Maryland, according to the Delaware State Police.
Investigators with the Delaware State Police Special Investigations Unit and the Cecil County Drug Task Force began investigating 42-year-old Roberto Campusano-Campusano in March after receiving information that he was allegedly distributing narcotics in both states.
According to investigators, Campusano-Campusano allegedly traveled between Delaware and Maryland to conduct drug transactions. Detectives also determined that, although he lived in Newark, he allegedly used a residence in the 100 block of Delamore Place in Wilmington in connection with the suspected operation.
On June 4, members of the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team assisted detectives in executing a search warrant at the Wilmington residence. Police said Campusano-Campusano was taken into custody without incident.
According to investigators, the search resulted in the seizure of approximately 3.45 grams of suspected heroin, 2.74 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 1.21 grams of suspected cocaine, a digital scale, drug-packaging materials, and more than $6,000 in suspected drug proceeds.
Campusano-Campusano was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance Tier 2 quantity, two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance Tier 2 quantity, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said he was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after bail was set at $46,100 cash.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
