Search Warrant Reveals Troubling Findings in Wilmington Home

WILMINGTON, DE — A Wilmington man is facing drug-related charges after police executed a search warrant at a residence on the city’s north side and recovered marijuana, cash, and packaging materials, according to investigators.

Members of the Wilmington Police Department’s Drug, Organized Crime and Vice Division had been investigating alleged illegal drug sales in the 2000 block of North Jessup Street prior to the search, police said.

According to investigators, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the 2000 block of North Jessup Street at approximately 1:11 p.m. on June 2.

Police reported that officers located 35-year-old Daniel McClain and 23-year-old Michael Braxton inside the residence and took both men into custody without incident.

According to authorities, officers recovered approximately 694 grams of marijuana, drug-packaging materials, and $1,623 in U.S. currency during the search.

McClain was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance Tier 1, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

According to court records, McClain was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution pending further proceedings.

Police said Braxton was found to have an outstanding probation-violation warrant. He was processed on that warrant and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
