WILMINGTON, DE — A 35-year-old man faces burglary and theft charges after Wilmington police investigating a theft complaint located him several blocks away and determined he was also wanted on outstanding warrants, according to authorities.
Wilmington police reported that an officer with the Special Operations Division responded to the 100 block of Burton Place at approximately 12:06 p.m. Aug. 28 for a theft complaint.
Officers canvassed the surrounding area and located a man matching the description of the person being sought in the 300 block of West Seventh Street, according to police.
Police identified the man as Jalio Jennings, 35, and took him into custody without incident. Authorities reported that officers subsequently confirmed Jennings was wanted on outstanding warrants from the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and Justice of the Peace Court.
In connection with the Aug. 28 investigation, Jennings was charged with third-degree burglary and theft under $1,500, according to police.
Jennings was arraigned in New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution pending further proceedings, police reported.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
