WILMINGTON, DE — A 23-year-old man wanted on an outstanding warrant is accused of multiple offenses following a foot chase during a trespassing investigation, according to city police.
Wilmington Police reported that officers with the Special Operations Division responded around 8:01 a.m. April 9 to the 300 block of South Madison Street for a trespassing complaint.
According to police, officers attempted to make contact with a male subject, who fled the area on foot. Authorities stated the individual was taken into custody a short time later without further incident and identified as Lenny Appleton.
Police reported that officers recovered multiple stolen credit cards, an airsoft handgun, and counterfeit U.S. currency.
According to investigators, Appleton was also wanted on an outstanding warrant from the New Castle County Police Department.
Authorities stated that Appleton is charged with theft under $1,500, criminal mischief under $1,000, two counts of receiving stolen property under $1,500, and resisting arrest.
Police reported that he was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $6,500 secured bail.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
