Upper Darby Search Uncovers Cocaine, Gun and $9,000, Police Say

UPPER DARBY, PA — A 36-year-old man was jailed Thursday after authorities allegedly seized cocaine, a firearm and more than $9,000 during the execution of a search warrant in Upper Darby Township.

According to the Marple Township Police Department, officers and members of the Delaware County Narcotics Task Force executed the warrant shortly after 6 a.m. July 16 at a residence in the 200 block of Long Lane.

Police identified the target of the investigation as Raheem Rodgers. Investigators reported that Rodgers was taken into custody without incident.

During the search, authorities allegedly recovered approximately 15 grams of cocaine, more than $9,000 in U.S. currency, a Glock 27 handgun, bulk drug-packaging materials, suspected drug-manufacturing paraphernalia and multiple cellphones. Police also seized a black Chrysler 300.

According to police, Rodgers is prohibited from legally possessing a firearm because of a prior conviction.

Authorities charged Rodgers with dealing in unlawful proceeds, criminal use of a communication facility, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, carrying a firearm without a license and manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.

Police reported that Magisterial District Judge Michael Culp arraigned Rodgers on July 16 and set bail at 10% of $250,000. Rodgers was remanded to Delaware County Prison after he was unable to post bail.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
