TRAINER, PA — Trainer Borough Police arrested a Delaware County man Saturday after officers responding to a reported domestic incident allegedly discovered a loaded handgun with an obliterated serial number.
According to police, officers responded at approximately 3:30 p.m. May 16 to the 4500 block of Post Road for a reported domestic incident.
During the investigation, officers made contact with 27-year-old Jahmad Lockett, whom police identified as a person prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Investigators reported officers observed a silver and black handgun in Lockett’s waistband during the encounter. Lockett was taken into custody without incident, according to police.
Police said officers recovered a Smith & Wesson SD9 VE 9mm handgun loaded with one round in the chamber and a magazine containing three additional rounds.
According to investigators, the firearm allegedly had an obliterated serial number, and Lockett allegedly did not possess a valid license to carry a firearm.
Police reported Lockett was transported to police headquarters for processing before being arraigned later Saturday by Magisterial District Judge Andrew Goldberg.
Bail was set at 10% of $200,000, according to court proceedings, and Lockett was committed to George W. Hill Correctional Facility.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
