Flurry of Calls Keeps Wyomissing Police Busy Over Two Days

WYOMISSING, PA — Police handled dozens of incidents across Wyomissing over April 16 and April 17, including crashes, a reported DUI arrest, retail theft, and multiple calls for service, according to records released by the Wyomissing Police Department.

According to police, officers began responding to overnight incidents just after midnight April 16, including traffic violations on Court Lane and reports of a reckless driver near State Hill Road and Wyomissing Boulevard. In both cases, authorities said warnings were issued or no further action was taken.

Police reported a two-vehicle crash around 6:44 a.m. April 16 at Route 422 and Papermill Road. According to investigators, no injuries were reported, and both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Later that morning, authorities said they responded to reports of a tractor-trailer leaking fuel along Route 422, with the spill extending into Spring Township. PennDOT and emergency management officials were notified, police reported.

Police also handled multiple alarm calls throughout the day, including incidents on Berkshire Boulevard and Old Mill Road that were determined to be false or accidental activations, according to authorities.

In the afternoon, officers responded to a hit-and-run crash on a ramp in Wyomissing around 5:30 p.m., where one vehicle was towed, police stated. Additional service calls included harassment complaints, 911 hang-ups, and disabled vehicles, all of which were resolved without further action, according to police.

Police reported numerous traffic enforcement stops throughout the evening hours April 16, issuing warnings and citations for violations including speeding, expired registration, equipment violations, and alleged lane infractions.

According to authorities, officers also conducted a narcotics-related stop on Hill Avenue late April 16, where a substance was recovered and the investigation remains ongoing.

Shortly after midnight April 17, police reported additional traffic enforcement activity, including a speeding citation on Route 422 and the towing of multiple disabled vehicles along the roadway.

Police said officers assisted neighboring departments in Shillington with incidents involving an allegedly intoxicated individual and a separate report of a disorderly person.

Later that morning, authorities responded to roadway conditions involving water on Cambridge Avenue and conducted several additional traffic stops for equipment and registration violations.

Police reported a walk-in complaint involving possible child abuse on Girard Avenue, which remains under review, as well as a separate report of harassment involving a juvenile on Old Wyomissing Road.

In the early afternoon, officers responded to multiple crashes, including a rear-end collision near Route 222 and Route 422 with no reported injuries, and another crash on State Hill Road where one vehicle was towed, according to investigators.

Police also reported a mental health-related call on Wayne Avenue, where a juvenile was transported to a hospital by EMS, and a separate incident later in the day where an individual was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Authorities said a retail theft involving approximately $179 was reported on Crossing Drive during the afternoon of April 17, and the investigation is ongoing.

Around 5:50 p.m. April 17, police reported a two-vehicle crash at Park Road North and Penn Avenue. According to investigators, one driver was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence following the collision. No injuries were reported.

In the evening, officers responded to a report of a disorderly individual at a business along State Hill Road. Police said the individual, described as intoxicated, left the area via rideshare after being trespassed from the property.

Police also responded to a medical emergency involving a reported overdose in a vehicle on Penn Avenue, where EMS provided treatment, according to authorities.

Additional late-night calls included suspicious activity, 911 hang-ups, and traffic enforcement stops, all of which were cleared without incident, police reported.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
