WYOMISSING, PA — Police handled 659 calls for service in February, including drug arrests, DUI incidents, weapons violations, and a death investigation, according to the Wyomissing Police Department’s monthly report.
According to the report, officers spent the largest share of their time on follow-up investigations, traffic enforcement, and routine patrol, with traffic enforcement alone accounting for 649.1 hours, or 16.7% of department activity.
Police reported that 204 calls, or 31% of total activity, occurred in business and commercial areas, with the highest concentration along Berkshire Boulevard West, which recorded 79 incidents. Residential communities accounted for 32 calls, or 5% of the total.
Among notable incidents, officers responded February 3 to the area of railroad tracks off Park Road North for a report of a deceased individual. According to investigators, multiple agencies, including Berks County Detectives and neighboring police departments, assisted at the scene. Authorities stated the Berks County Coroner’s Office is working to determine the cause and manner of death.
The report shows a range of criminal offenses during the month. Police documented incidents involving narcotics, weapons violations, fraud, prostitution, DUI, and disorderly conduct. According to department data, prostitution-related offenses were among the most frequently recorded, with multiple incidents logged throughout February.
Police reported that drug-related offenses and DUI cases were also recorded during the month, along with several “all other” offenses and weapons-related incidents.
Arrest data included incidents categorized under harassment, fights, access device fraud, theft, and domestic-related offenses, according to department charts summarizing enforcement activity.
According to department statistics, weekday incidents accounted for roughly 72% of activity, compared to about 28% on weekends. The busiest days included Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, each with similar incident volumes.
Police also participated in community outreach during the month, including a February 27 event at Lauers Park Elementary School as part of Black History Month programming, where officers engaged with students about careers in law enforcement.
The department also reported interagency cooperation, providing assistance to surrounding departments 20 times and receiving assistance nine times during the month.
Current crime statistics show 45 total offenses recorded through February, including 21 Part I offenses and 24 Part II offenses, with an overall clearance rate of 86.6%, according to police data.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
