PHILADELPHIA, PA — Giant screens, international flags, German bier, and match-day energy from around the world are headed to South Street this summer as Brauhaus Schmitz transforms into one of Philadelphia’s premier destinations for fans of the world’s biggest international soccer tournament.

From June 11 through July 19, the South Street bierhall will host watch parties for all 104 tournament matches, welcoming supporters from across the region as 48 nations compete in a month-long celebration of the beautiful game. With Philadelphia serving as host city for six tournament matches, organizers expect excitement across the city to reach new heights.

Known for its extensive German beer selection and lively atmosphere, Brauhaus Schmitz plans to go all-in for the tournament with 11 indoor viewing screens, soccer-themed décor, special menu items, souvenir collectibles, and five outdoor block-party watch events featuring a massive 20-foot LED screen in the middle of the 700 block of South Street.

“We want Brauhaus to feel like the center of the soccer universe this summer,” the Brauhaus Schmitz team said. “Whether you’re cheering for Germany, the United States, Colombia, or your favorite underdog nation, this is where fans can come together for unforgettable match-day energy.”

For major match days, South Street will spill outdoors with free public watch parties featuring street closures and festival-style crowds.

Bringing Global Soccer to South Street

Owner Doug Hager said the international tournament provides a unique opportunity to showcase both Philadelphia and South Street to visitors from around the globe.

“Over the past year, we’ve been preparing to bring the world’s biggest stage for the beautiful game to South Street,” Hager said. “If there are three things Brauhaus knows best, it’s soccer, big events, and beer — and this summer is the perfect combination of all three happening right here in our incredible city. We’re excited, honored, and ready to help showcase the passion, energy, and hospitality that Philadelphia brings to the global soccer community.”

Because of expected demand, Brauhaus Schmitz will not accept individual reservations during tournament play. Indoor seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, and fans are encouraged to arrive early for high-profile matches.
