PHILADELPHIA, PA — Banijay Americas said the immersive light and music experience Luminiscence will open June 11 at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul as part of the production’s expanding U.S. and international tour.

The event will use 360-degree video mapping, orchestral music, narration, and live choir performances to transform the cathedral interior into a multimedia presentation centered on the site’s history and architecture.

LOTCHI, a Banijay Live company and creator of Luminiscence, said the production has attracted more than one million visitors globally since launching in 2023, with productions staged across eight countries.

The Philadelphia engagement follows a sold-out run in Minneapolis and coincides with events tied to the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary celebrations.

“For anyone who loves art, architecture, or storytelling, LUMINISCENCE is an experience that stays with you,” said Ben Samek, chief executive officer of Banijay Americas.

Romain Sarfati, co-founder of LOTCHI, said each production is customized to reflect the history of the venue hosting the performance.

The Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, built between 1846 and 1864, serves as the mother church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia. The basilica was designed by architect Napoleon LeBrun and features ceiling paintings by Constantino Brumidi, known for his work at the U.S. Capitol.

A portion of ticket proceeds from the Philadelphia run will support preservation and restoration efforts at the cathedral, organizers said.

Performances will include options featuring live choir and orchestra accompaniment, choir-only performances, and recorded soundtrack presentations.
