NEW CASTLE, DE — The Delaware State Police announced the arrest of 43-year-old Kathryn Eriksson of Newark, Delaware, for multiple felony criminal charges stemming from a disorderly incident that occurred at a New Castle area bar early Saturday morning.

The criminal complaint alleges that on October 21, 2023, at approximately 1:11 a.m., troopers were dispatched to Kum-On-Inn located at 249 Christiana Road in New Castle for a report of a disorderly woman with a knife refusing to leave the bar. After arriving at the scene, troopers made contact with the suspect, who was seated at the bar. The suspect, identified as Kathryn Eriksson, was taken into custody without incident after troopers found a folding knife concealed in her pocket. In the ensuing investigation, troopers discovered Eriksson was repeatedly asked to leave due to her demanding service after the bar was closed. Eriksson refused to leave and threatened to kill the bar’s employees while waving a knife that she had pulled from her pocket. One of the employees was able to get away and call 9-1-1. There were no injuries reported.

Eriksson was taken to Troop 2, where she was charged with the following crimes:

  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
  • Aggravated Menacing (Felony)
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)
  • Terroristic Threatening
  • Disorderly Conduct
  • Criminal Trespass Second Degree

Eriksson was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on a $37,700 cash bond.

Information, a criminal complaint, or an arrest is not a declaration of guilt. A suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
