DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Drivers should plan extra time over the next two weeks as PennDOT schedules conduit and utility cable installations on several Delaware County roads and I-476, including overnight lane closures and intermittent traffic stoppages.

From Monday, July 13, through Thursday, July 16, lane closures with flagging will be in place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Avondale Road between Rose Valley Road and Copples Lane in Nether Providence Township, and on Rogers Lane between Crumwald Lane and Avonbrook Lane in Nether Providence Township.
A lane closure with flagging is also planned on Darby Road between Brennan Drive and Scarlet Oak Drive in Haverford Township from Monday, July 13, through Thursday, July 16, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. the following morning.
Overnight work is scheduled on Bryn Mawr Avenue between Ithan Avenue and Stone Creek Lane in Radnor Township from Monday, July 13, through Thursday, July 16, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the following morning.
From Monday, July 20, through Thursday, July 23, lane closures with intermittent 15-minute traffic stoppages will be in place nightly from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. on northbound and southbound I-476 between Route 3 (West Chester Pike) and U.S. 1 in Marple Township, and between U.S. 1 and Baltimore Pike in Nether Providence and Springfield townships.
No detours were announced. Drivers should expect significant delays, seek alternate routes when possible, and use extra caution near flaggers, work crews, and changing traffic patterns.
The work is part of PennDOT’s $10.4 million project to install and integrate Variable Speed Limit and Queue Warning systems along about 14.5 miles of I-476 in Delaware and Montgomery counties. The systems are designed to help manage congestion by displaying real-time speed limits and warning drivers of slowdowns ahead.
