WILMINGTON, DE — Three juveniles have been charged with attempted murder after two people were allegedly assaulted with fireworks in Wilmington, according to the Wilmington Police Department.
Police reported that the incident occurred around 10:34 p.m. July 3 near Ninth and North Pine streets. Investigators allege that multiple juveniles assaulted a 31-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman with fireworks, including a Roman candle.
According to police, both victims were hospitalized. The woman was treated and released, while the man remained in critical condition when police provided their initial account July 22.
Detective Ryan Kilmon identified a 13-year-old boy as a suspect during the initial investigation, police reported. Officers took the juvenile into custody without incident July 21 in the 600 block of East 10th Street.
The 13-year-old was charged with first-degree attempted murder, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony and first-degree conspiracy, according to police. He was arraigned in New Castle County Family Court and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center in lieu of $255,000 cash-only bail.
Police later identified another 13-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy as suspects in the case.
Officers located the second 13-year-old Aug. 19 in the 400 block of North Lombard Street and took him into custody without incident, according to police. The 16-year-old was located at the New Castle County Courthouse and also taken into custody without incident.
Both juveniles were charged with first-degree attempted murder, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony and first-degree conspiracy, police reported. Each was arraigned in New Castle County Family Court and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center in lieu of $265,000 cash-only bail.
