Extensive U.S. 422 Work Will Test Drivers Next Week

LOWER POTTSGROVE TWP, PA — Drivers on U.S. 422 should prepare for extensive lane and intermittent ramp closures beginning Sunday, July 19, as milling, paving and line-striping operations continue in Lower Pottsgrove Township and North Coventry Township. Expect backups and plan extra time throughout the week.

Westbound U.S. 422 will have a lane closure and intermittent ramp closures between the Armand Hammer Boulevard and Route 100 interchanges on Sunday, July 19, and from Wednesday, July 22, through Thursday, July 23. The restrictions are scheduled from 6:00 p.m. until noon the following day.

Eastbound U.S. 422 will have a lane closure and intermittent ramp closures between the Route 100 and Armand Hammer Boulevard interchanges from Monday, July 20, through Thursday, July 23. Work is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 a.m. the following morning.

A right-lane closure will also affect westbound U.S. 422 between the Sanatoga Interchange at Evergreen Road and the Hanover Street Interchange from Monday, July 20, through Thursday, July 23. The restriction will be in place from 6:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. the following morning.

On Tuesday, July 21, and Wednesday, July 22, a lane closure is scheduled on eastbound U.S. 422 between the Route 100 and Hanover Street interchanges from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 a.m. the following morning.

Periodic lane closures will affect both directions of U.S. 422 between the Route 100 Interchange and the 171.6-mile point on Thursday, July 23, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for permanent line striping.

No full detour has been announced, but intermittent ramp closures may require drivers to follow posted traffic directions. Motorists should reduce speed, watch for changing lane patterns and seek alternate routes when practical.

The milling and paving between Route 100 and Armand Hammer Boulevard was added to PennDOT’s $83.6 million project to reconstruct approximately 2.1 miles of U.S. 422 and replace bridges between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road.
