Drug Bust: Elderly Suspect Arrested with Stash of Oxycodone, Alprazolam, and Suboxone

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police announced the arrest of an 81-year-old man on drug charges in connection with an investigation.

Richard Mason has been charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver.

The criminal complaint alleges that beginning in June, members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division have been conducting an investigation into illegal drug sales in the 400 block of East 10th Street. On June 22, at approximately 11:25 a.m., police executed a search warrant in that block and took 81-year-old Richard Mason into custody without incident. Police recovered 41 Oxycodone pills, 29 Alprazolam pills, 8 Suboxone strips, $1,213, and drug paraphernalia.

Mason was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and released on his own recognizance.
