PHILADELPHIA, PA — CTIBIOTECH launched its North American subsidiary in Philadelphia as part of a planned U.S. expansion backed by nearly $27 million in operational and intellectual property investments aimed at growing its presence in drug development and bioprinting technologies.
The company recently announced the launch of CTIBIOTECH USA during the SelectUSA Investment Summit in Washington, D.C., stating the new operation will serve pharmaceutical, biomedical and dermatocosmetics companies across North America.
CTIBIOTECH said it plans to invest nearly $12 million in U.S. operations over the next five years, alongside an additional $15 million tied to intellectual property assets entering the American market.
The Philadelphia operation will be based within the region’s life sciences sector and operate in association with BioLabs for Advanced Therapeutics.
The company develops human cell and tissue bioassays using 3D bioprinting technology, including laboratory-grown tumor and skin models intended to support drug development and personalized medicine research.
Colin McGuckin indicated the expansion is intended to address high failure rates in cancer drug development by providing researchers with human-derived testing models designed to improve predictive accuracy before clinical trials.
According to the company, CTIBIOTECH USA will manufacture and supply those bioassays domestically to reduce logistical barriers for North American research organizations and pharmaceutical companies.
Nico Forraz described the U.S. launch as part of the company’s broader international expansion strategy and said the localized manufacturing footprint is intended to accelerate access to research tools for American partners.
The launch event included participation from officials tied to federal and Pennsylvania economic development efforts, including representatives from the U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service, the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia.
CTIBIOTECH also credited support from French and European economic development organizations, including Business France and BPI France, in facilitating the company’s U.S. expansion.
