PHILADELPHIA, PA — Datavault AI Inc. (NASDAQ: DVLT) appointed Frank Deo as chief technology officer of its Acoustic Sciences Division, tasking him with consolidating engineering systems across four acquired businesses as the company evaluates a potential public spinout of the unit.
Deo will oversee technology development for the division’s ADIO, WiSA, Event Citadel and API Media platforms, which cover spatial audio, data-over-sound signaling and live-event systems.
He previously served as vice president of new media technology at API Media, where he led engineering for the ADIO platform. Deo will report to David Reese, president of the Acoustic Sciences Division.
The appointment comes as Datavault AI considers distributing the division to shareholders as a separate publicly traded company. The proposed transaction remains subject to board approval, a definitive agreement, closing conditions and any required regulatory clearances.
Deo’s mandate includes replacing separate engineering environments with a unified technology stack, expanding AI-assisted software development and standardizing processes across the division’s operating companies.
Datavault AI expects the changes to simplify the unit’s architecture, improve collaboration and reduce operating costs as the business scales.
“That means one engineering stack instead of four, AI-assisted tooling on the repetitive build work, shared processes across every team and an architecture designed to scale efficiently as the division grows,” Deo stated.
Reese framed the restructuring as an effort to convert four businesses into a single technology platform and shorten product-development cycles.
“Bringing these teams under one technical vision is how we turn four strong companies into one platform,” Reese stated.
Deo has more than 30 years of experience in media, data and platform technology. His previous employers include Imagine Communications, 605, Cadent, Johnson & Johnson and Comcast.
He is a Technical Emmy Award recipient and an inventor on 31 issued U.S. and international patents.
