Bridge Demolition on N. Gulph Road Expected to Slow Traffic Next Week

Road construction

UPPER MERION TWP, PA — Motorists navigating through Upper Merion Township in Montgomery County are advised to brace for potential delays as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a scheduled bridge demolition that will impact N. Gulph Road traffic flow. The operation, which is part of ongoing infrastructure improvements in the area, is set to take place from Monday, April 1, through Saturday, April 6, marking a week of significant activity that could disrupt daily commutes.

During this period, drivers traveling southbound on N. Gulph Road, between 1st Avenue and U.S. 202, will encounter a single lane closure. To facilitate the safe and efficient execution of the demolition work, periodic traffic paces will also be implemented, potentially leading to slow or even momentarily stopped traffic. These measures, while necessary for the project’s advancement, are expected to introduce considerable delays, particularly during the peak hours of 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Given the nature of such infrastructure projects, motorists are being strongly encouraged to exercise caution when approaching the work area. Adjusting travel plans, allowing for extra commuting time, or seeking alternative routes might prove beneficial in circumventing the anticipated slowdowns.

The bridge demolition effort is being carried out under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit, with the Pennsylvania Turnpike overseeing the project’s completion.

As with all outdoor construction endeavors, the schedule for the N. Gulph Road bridge demolition is contingent upon favorable weather conditions. Any unforeseen shifts in the weather could potentially alter the timing of the work, further emphasizing the importance for motorists to stay informed on the project’s status.
