Bridge Construction Continues on U.S. 13 South Ramp Over U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) in Hunting Park

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Bridge construction will continue next week under a $7.8 million Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) project to replace the overhead ramp and structure from southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) to southbound U.S. 13 (Hunting Park Avenue) in the Hunting Park section of Philadelphia.

On Monday, September 25, through Friday, September 29:

  • A periodic single lane and shoulder closure will be in place from 6:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning on southbound U.S. 1 between Wyoming Avenue and 16th Street;
  • A periodic single lane and shoulder closure will be in place from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning on northbound U.S. 1 between 16th Street and Wyoming Avenue; and
  • The ramp to southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) at Wingohocking Street will be closed and detoured as needed from 12:00 AM to 5:00 AM. Motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour route.

Temporary slowdowns will occur on northbound and southbound U.S. 1 between 16th Street and Wyoming Avenue from September 25 to September 29. Southbound U.S. 13 ramp remains closed until January 2024, with an alternative route posted. Expect delays and follow detours due to ongoing bridge replacement and road improvement work by PennDOT.

South State, Inc. of Bridgeton, N.J., is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.
