Health Inspectors Cite Ongoing Cockroach Infestation in Downingtown Restaurant

Food Safety Inspections

WEST CHESTER, PA — The Chester County Health Department reported continued food safety violations at a Downingtown restaurant following a follow-up inspection conducted April 14.

Inspectors said Nalan Indian Cuisine, located at 889 E. Lancaster Ave., remained in violation due to a German cockroach infestation observed throughout the facility, including in food preparation, storage, and cooking areas.

According to inspection findings, cockroaches were present in multiple life stages, indicating an active infestation.

Health officials outlined corrective actions, including increased cleaning, removal of clutter, sealing of structural gaps, use of monitoring traps, elimination of cardboard storage, and engagement of a licensed pest control service.

The inspection was conducted as a follow-up to prior violations.

Officials noted that inspection results reflect conditions at the time of the visit and may not represent long-term compliance.
