WEST CHESTER, PA — Chester County health inspectors cited a Phoenixville beer distributor for multiple food safety and facility maintenance violations during an inspection conducted June 15, while seven other food establishments across the county were found to be in compliance.
The Chester County Health Department reported violations at Superior Beer & More, 701 Wheatland St., Phoenixville, involving handwashing access, facility maintenance, and organization of the ware-washing area.
According to the inspection report, the paper towel dispenser at the handwashing sink in the ware-washing area was empty, and the handwashing sink itself was blocked by a storage closet, preventing access.
Inspectors also directed the facility to clean and organize the ware-washing room, remove unused equipment, and store chemicals in a designated area.
Additional violations included a small hole in the wall above a urinal in the public restroom and drywall in the ware-washing room that inspectors said must be finished with a smooth, nonporous, easily cleanable surface.
Health department officials note that inspections represent a snapshot of conditions observed at the time of the visit and may not reflect an establishment’s long-term sanitation or food safety practices.
The following facilities were listed as in compliance during inspections conducted on June 15:
- Broad Run Golfer’s Club @ Tattersall, 1520 Tattersall Way, West Chester
- CVS Pharmacy #1074/East Marlborough, 870 E. Baltimore Pike, Kennett Square
- Longwood Gardens Complex, 901 Conservatory Rd., Kennett Square
- Nudy’s Cafe of West Chester, 300 W. Market St., West Chester
- Penn Brew Station (New Owner), 627-631 W. Baltimore Pike, West Grove
- Safe Harbor of Chester County Inc., 20 N. Matlack St., West Chester
- Tel Hai Camp (Food), 31 Lasso Dr., Honey Brook
