State Rep. Melissa Shusterman, D-Chester, indicated that inactive detection and adaptive traffic-control functions have contributed to routine delays at several intersections within the system.

“This grant will allow the township to improve traffic management and flow for a busy travel route which connects surrounding residential communities with local businesses, access to main highways and the Paoli Transit Center,” Shusterman stated.

She described the transit center as the area’s principal public transportation hub for SEPTA and Amtrak service and credited the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation with recognizing the need for safer and more efficient intersections.
