COATESVILLE, PA — The Made in Coatesville Small Business Incubator, which opened in November 2022, lost one of its ten entrepreneurial tenants last month, but that’s not bad news.
Mimi’s Favorite Things, one of the Incubator’s original retail tenants, is moving into a storefront at 262 East Lincoln Hwy. After operating Mimi’s for four years in small, temporary locations, owner Michele Allen and her husband and business partner, Courtney Allen, are excited to have purchased the property, which will serve as the retail boutique’s permanent location.
“This is exactly the type of growth we wanted to see from this initiative,” states Amber Little-Turner, Acting Executive Director of the 2nd Century Alliance. “Michele is a shining example of the success of the Incubator and other small business programs and resources available to entrepreneurs here in the City.”
Mimi’s Favorite Things features handmade products crafted by other small, women, or minority-owned businesses.
“Excited is an understatement,” said Michele. “To think just a year ago, I wasn’t sure of the future of Mimi’s Favorite Things and here we sit, not only learning and growing as a business owner thanks to the Incubator, but now having our very own storefront in Downtown Coatesville.”
Located at 228 East Lincoln Highway, the Made in Coatesville Small Business Incubator is an initiative of the Coatesville 2nd Century Alliance and home to ten fledgling businesses. It is open for shopping on Thursdays and Fridays from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Along with the physical location for their startups, tenants have access to wraparound business education programming and financing opportunities.
