YPrime Launches AI Calculation Engine for Clinical Trial Platform

YPrime

MALVERN, PA — YPrime launched an AI-powered calculation engine within its eCOA platform to automate how clinical trial data calculations are configured and executed, aiming to reduce manual processes and improve consistency in study workflows.

The new capability allows study teams to define calculation logic using natural language, which the system converts into structured models used throughout a trial to generate scored outcomes, eligibility criteria, and derived endpoints.

Clinical trial calculations, including questionnaire scoring and compliance tracking, are typically built through manual configuration and validation, a process that can extend timelines and require specialized technical expertise.

The company said the engine standardizes calculation logic during study setup and applies it automatically as participant data is collected, enabling consistent execution across trials.

The system generates defined formulas and variable mappings tied to underlying study data and integrates directly into the existing eCOA workflow without requiring additional tools.

Mike Hughes, chief product and operations officer for eCOA, said the technology was developed using internal study builds to refine performance and outputs before release.

YPrime said the feature is designed to reduce build time, limit rework, and improve consistency in how protocol-defined calculations are implemented.

The calculation engine is part of the company’s broader effort to incorporate artificial intelligence into clinical trial design and execution, following earlier AI-based tools focused on data migration and workflow efficiency.

The capability is now available within the YPrime eCOA platform.
